Psychodynamically-informed parent support
Parents often have a need for support in their parenting journey. Psychodynamic parent support offers a thoughtful, depth-oriented space to explore the emotional dynamics, past experiences, and attachment patterns that shape how parents connect with their children. Rather than offering generic behavioural strategies, this approach helps parents understand why specific moments of conflict or distress feel particularly challenging or intense. This may include exploring how a parent's own early life experiences and upbringing influence their responses today, helping to break automatic, intergenerational cycles. The aim is to develop a deeper capacity to look past a child's outward behaviour to understand the underlying feelings, needs and intentions driving both the child and the parent.
A supportive, confidential environment is created where parents can process complex feelings - such as guilt, frustration, or overwhelm. Parents are helped to view their child as a distinct separate individual with a unique internal world, allowing for a more authentic and resilient parent-child bond.
Sometimes parents need support with ordinary parenting aspects, however I also assist in circumstances where parenting may be particularly challenging, stressful and demanding.
