Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2004, I studied art and teaching and worked as a high school art teacher. My interest in using creative art and images in a therapeutic way was sparked during my art studies. I participated in various community art projects and completed a Foundation Course in Art Therapy while furthering my studies in psychology.

I completed six months of my clinical psychology internship at the Rhodes University Psychology Clinic and the other six months at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital in 2023, whereafter I worked for a year at the 6SAI Military base in Makhanda (Grahamstown) as community service psychologist. Between 2005 and 2015 I worked at the Rhodes University Student Counselling Centre as well as in private practice in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape, gaining experience in individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy and supervision.

In 2015 I moved to Cape Town, and started working for the Department of Health at the Tygerberg Hospital Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit in a 5/8 position (part time), and as Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Bellville. In my position at the Child and Adolescent Unit I have been exposed to working with complex cases within a multi-disciplinary team. My work experience at the hospital includes child psychotherapy, adolescent psychotherapy, infant mental health interventions, family therapy, parent work, group psychotherapy and supervision of intern psychologists and psychiatric registrar psychotherapy case work. From 2022-2026 I have been jointly appointed by Stellenbosch University as lecturer/ clinical psychologist at the Medical Faculty. Concurrently, in my part-time private practice I’ve continued seeing children, adolescents, adults and couples for psychotherapy.
